Report: Dodgers reject Cubs' latest proposal for Dempster trade

The Chicago Cubs offered the Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Ryan Dempster in exchange for pitching prospect Allen Webster in a one-for-one trade, but the Dodgers rejected the proposal, CBSSports.com reported.

The Dodgers have offered less highly touted prospects for Dempster, according to the report, and may be more interested in acquiring Cubs pitcher Matt Garza than Dempster.

Garza, 28, is 5-7 with a 3.91 ERA, and Dempster, 35, is 5-5 with a 2.25 ERA.

Webster, 22, is 4-8 with a 4.06 ERA this season for Double-A Chattanooga.

The Braves apparently have given up hope of acquiring Dempster, who has veto power on all trades and did not approve a proposed trade to the Braves.
